8 August 2011 - Attitudes to Giving 2011 – click on icon to download snapshot of findings 08 August 2011 Following on from the success of last year’s study, ActionPoint has recently completed a larger, more comprehensive study of 420 interviews, split between Hertfordshire and Yorkshire. The report gives considerable insight into a range of different attitudes to giving to charity, including preferred methods of giving, spontaneous awareness of local charities and the use of gift aid. The findings can help charities better target donors, by providing up-to-date information on exactly who gives to charity, when, how and why. The report provides overall totals and splits by region, with further demographic breakdowns where significant differences exist. The Attitudes to Giving 2011 snapshot, outlines the subject areas covered in the report and can be downloaded from the feature box. If you would like to purchase the full report , for £100 + VAT, or for further information about the research study, please contact ActionPoint on 01462 6811871 or info@actionpointms.co.uk. |

Much has been written about the Big Society since it was announced by the government in 2010. ActionPoint surveyed 420 people in Hertfordshire and Yorkshire about their thoughts on the subject and the findings may come as a surprise. 19 April 2011 - The Giftability Factor 19 April 2011 Can gift cards, gift vouchers or prepaid cards defeat cultural and industry misconceptions? This was one of the issues recently addressed by ActionPoint's Penny Wylie at the UKGCVA's 2011 conference. Speaking about the research ActionPoint conducted for the UKGCVA on the gift card/gift voucher buying market, Penny highlighted the fact that just over one-third of GB adults had bought one or more gift card/gift vouchers in the last 12 months. Delegates also heard about the three distinct consumer segments – the 'Ambassadors', the 'Last Resorts' and the 'Mature Converts'. Penny also looked at attitudes to gift and present buying, specifically the suitability of gift cards/gift vouchers, as well as the main reasons for buying versus the barriers which currently exist. Unsurprisingly, whether someone is happy to receive a gift card/gift voucher as a present is largely determined by whoever the giver is – coming from a work colleague or brother is generally acceptable, whereas if a close friend or husband gives one as a present, it may not be the best idea. Charities can add their own questions to the Charity Monitor for a fee of £75 per question per location (e.g. Hertfordshire), with a discounted report price of £75 (usual price £100). 19 November 2010 - ActionPoint presents initial findings of pre-paid gifting in the UK research 19 November 2010 The UK Gift Card & Voucher Association (UKGCVA) invited ActionPoint Director, Penny Wylie, to present initial findings of the research project looking at consumer attitudes to buying gift cards and vouchers in the UK, at their 2010 Conference, in London.
Delegates were eager to hear the headline findings, which showed that 38% of UK consumers had bought a gift card or voucher in the past year (March ’09 – March ’10) - a figure that represents both a challenge and an opportunity for the £4bn gifting industry. The findings also highlighted that gift cards/vouchers are clearly NOT top-of-mind when people think about buying a present. Nearly half of those who didn’t buy just ‘didn’t think about it’. For further information about the research study, please contact ActionPoint on 01462 681187. The presentation slides of the initial findings can be viewed on the UKGCVA website. The UK Gift Card & Voucher Association (UKGCVA) is the UK trade body representing gift vouchers and gift cards. Further detail please visit www.ukgcva.co.uk.
